Inkster Zetas Announce the Grand Opening of the Newly Renovated Stork’s Nest in Partnership with March of Dimes A Milestone in Community Service for Expectant Mothers in Inkster, MI | October 12, 2024
Inkster, MI — Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Zeta Nu Zeta Chapter (The Inkster Zetas) proudly announces the grand opening of the newly renovated Stork’s Nest, a community project focused on supporting expectant mothers through prenatal care and education. The event will be held on October 12th at noon, at St. Clement’s Episcopal Church [4300 Harrison Inkster, MI 48141]. This project embodies the sorority’s “Power of S.H.E.” — Service, Health, and Empowerment — and aligns with the Z-HOPE (Zetas Helping Other People Excel) initiative. The renovation was made possible through the chapter’s partnership with March of Dimes, a partner since 1972.
Highlights:
- Partnership and Collaboration: The Inkster Zetas, in collaboration with March of Dimes, revitalized this essential community resource, reaffirming their commitment to maternal and child health and aligning with the "Health" pillar of the “Power of S.H.E.”
- Project Leadership and Design: Led by Zeta Nu Zeta member Rhonda Johnson-Lee, a seasoned Realtor and real estate developer, the renovation showcases her expertise as designer, project manager, and laborer. Only the new flooring was outsourced.
- Collaboration with Local Expertise: Flooring installation was handled by ShaWanna Gajewski, a general contractor and real estate professional with strong ties to the Western Wayne County community. She is also developing a 45-unit housing project in Inkster, creating jobs and skills training opportunities.
- Community Impact: The Stork’s Nest will provide prenatal education, maternal health resources, and incentive-based programs promoting healthy pregnancy behaviors. The welcoming, newly designed space reflects the commitment of the Inkster Zetas and March of Dimes to Health Equity and Social Justice.
