WAYNE COUNTY TO BEGIN ROAD RESURFACING PROJECTS IN THE CITIES OF INKSTER AND WESTLAND
WAYNE COUNTY, MI – Wayne County Department of Public Services has announced the road resurfacing schedule and traffic plan for Middle Belt Road between Van Born Road and Michigan Avenue, located within the Cities of Inkster and Westland. The 3-day project will begin on October 17, 2025, subject to weather conditions and unforeseen delays. Work will occur daily between 4:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., with lane closures implemented only during these hours.

Middle Belt Road – Right (Outer) Lanes, between Van Born Road and Michigan Avenue
- Southbound traffic will be closed. Drivers are advised to use Merriman Road or Inkster Road as alternative routes
- Northbound traffic will remain open.
- All side street entrances and exits to Middle Belt Road will be closed. Residents may use local/back roads to access the main roads.
- The right lane of westbound Van Born Road (east and west of Middle Belt Road) will be closed.
- The right lane of eastbound Michigan Avenue (east and west of Middle Belt Road) will be closed.
Monday October 20, 2025 & Tuesday, October 21, 2025
Middle Belt Road – Inner Lanes, between Van Born Road and Michigan Avenue
- Traffic plans are the same as above.
Electronic message boards will be placed on Van Born Road and Michigan Avenue to inform drivers of the upcoming lane closures. School buses and emergency vehicles will be allowed to pass through the closure.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and patience in construction zones. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic flow, and alternate routes are strongly recommended to avoid delays.
