The City of Inkster has contracted with HydroCorp to install water meters in every residence and business within the city. This project involves replacing existing water meters and installing new meters where needed.
Installations will be scheduled in phases, focusing on specific sections of the city at a time. Prior to work in your area, HydroCorp will mail a letter with instructions on how to schedule your installation appointment. HydroCorp technicians will carry identification and will arrive in marked vehicles.
Phase One of the project is scheduled to begin in April 2025. The project is expected to be completed in twelve (12) months.
A Town Hall Meeting was held on January 22, 2025. Representatives from the City and HydroCorp provided details of the project and answered questions. If you were unable to attend, a recording of the meeting is available on the City of Inkster Channel on YouTube.
As we prepare to begin installations, here are a couple of reminders:
- There is no charge to residents or business owners for the water meter or the installation.
- New meters are required for ALL water customers. This project is a mandatory infrastructure upgrade. You must have your water meter replaced.
- Technicians will need to access the inside of your home or business where the water meter is located.
- Your valves must work properly. If it is not working, it should be repaired before your scheduled installation. Valve repairs are the responsibility of the resident or business owner.
- Installation will take approximately 45 minutes to complete. Water service will be temporarily interrupted.
- Clear any objects from around the area where the water meter is located.
Regular updates will be posted under New Water Meters on the City of Inkster mobile app and website.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work towards these improvements.
