NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
CITY OF INKSTER, WAYNE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
RE: Intent To Create a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) District
The Inkster City Council will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge St, Inkster, MI 48141 on April 15, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. Information to join the meeting can be found at City Hall, the address is listed above or at www.cityofinkster.com.
The City of Inkster is proposing the creation of a Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (hereinafter “NEZ”) district in the City of Inkster for New Facilities. The Neighborhood Enterprise Zone (NEZ) Program was established by Public Act 147 of 1992, as amended. The program provides a tax incentive for the development and rehabilitation of residential housing. A qualified local unit of government may designate one or more areas as an NEZ within that local unit of government. The program was established to spur the development and rehabilitation of residential housing in communities where it may not otherwise occur. The program also encourages owner-occupied housing and new investment in communities.
The City of Inkster is proposing to set up the district along Annapolis Avenue and on streets with vacant lots that could use new housing developments, including Wayland Court, Crystal Court, Yorkville Court, and Bridgeport Court, in the Planned Unit Development (PUD) zoned district, also known as Annapolis Pointe. The subject properties are listed below by parcel number.
A new facility is defined as a new structure or portion of a new structure that has as its primary purpose residential housing consisting of one or two units, one of which will be owner-occupied as a principal residence. This definition includes a new individual condominium unit, in a structure with one or more condominium units, that has as its primary purpose residential housing which will be owner-occupied as a principal residence. A new facility may receive a tax incentive for a period of between 6 and 15 years. For more NEZ information from the State of Michigan (Michigan Economic Development Corporation) please visit:
