Site Assessment Grant

What is a Brownfield?
A brownfield is any land that is abandoned, idled, or under used because redevelopment and/or expansion is complicated by environmental contamination that is either real or perceived. Brownfields represent an economic or social challenge, since they complicate development and therefore, impact local economies.
Grant Funding for Environmental Assessments

The City of Inkster has received a site assessment grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) to assist the city in its redevelopment efforts. The City of Inkster has funding available through this grant to fund environmental assessment activities on brownfield sites. The City is looking to support projects that will transform the City through job creation and the reuse of existing Brownfields.

Who is Eligible?

A new or prospective owner of any property located within the City of Inkster that may qualify as a brownfield is eligible. Current landowners that are not responsible for the contamination on a property are also eligible.

What is Eligible?
