City Manager – The City of Inkster, MI, is accepting applications for the position of City Manager. Salary range is $95,000 - $110,000 DOQ/E, plus comprehensive benefit package including ICMA 457 deferred compensation retirement. Located in suburban metropolitan Detroit. Manager is City’s chief administrative officer, reports directly to City Council, supervises all City personnel (except City Clerk and City Attorney) and is responsible for all City operations. Qualifications: (1) Four-year degree in political science, public or business administration or closely related field required; MPA, MBA or closely related graduate/advanced degree preferred, (2) Three years experience in public-sector local government management as chief administrative officer (CAO), assistant CAO (ACAO), or senior-level department head required, such experience as CAO or ACAO desirable; Five years such experience preferred; (3) Three years experience in public-sector management in a racially, ethnically, socially and economically diverse community required; Five years such experience preferred; (4) An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must have considerable skills in leadership and motivation, staff and public relations, policy development and implementation, budget, capital improvement planning, and written and verbal communication. Considerable economic and downtown development (DDA and TIFA) skills highly desirable. Three year commitment to position and residency in community is highly desirable.
