Press Release: Wheatley Park Phase I Improvements

Dear Residents:
The City of Inkster is proud to announce the commencement of construction at Wheatley Park. Wheatley Park is located at Beech Daly between Carlysle and Penn streets, in the South East corner, of the City of Inkster. The first phase of improvements consists of baseball field renovations, basketball court renovations and minor improvements for drainage. At the end of construction, the baseball diamond will have new infield, dug-outs, pitcher’s mound, batter boxes, bases, fencing improvements, dug-outs and full field renovations. The basketball courts will have new asphalt, new striping, new posts and new backboards. Last, the park will make improvements to alleviate some of the water drainage problems near the construction areas.

The City’s contractor and on-site construction manager will be conducting intermittent construction over the course of the next six weeks. Construction work will generally be conducted during regular business hours and will create a limited amount of noise and dust. The contractor is responsible for ensuring that the work site is contained, maintained and safe. In an effort to strengthen the efforts of the City, it is asked that residents report on any questions, comments or concerns to the City of Inkster Planning Department, at (313) 203-2480 as promptly as possible. Your “eyes and ears” will ensure the success of this project for the benefit of children, families and citizens at large. Thank you for your continued support.
