Press Release: The City of Inkster Receives $730,000 Grant
For Immediate Release
June 30, 2009
$730,000 of Neighborhood Stabilization Grants were awarded by Wayne
County Executive Robert Ficano, with the support of Wayne County
Commissioner District Joan Gebhardt serving the 15th Commission
District, to the City of Inkster.
As part of the American Recovery and Revitalization Act, the City of
Inkster will receive $730,000 from Wayne County for demolition of
blighted residential and commercial structures and two schools that have
been an eyesore within the community for years.
The Citys Chief Building Official, Ralph Welton, has developed an
aggressive demolition program and these funds will assist in that
effort. The City is also building partnerships with developers and
non-profits to address the problem of vacant and foreclosed property
within its neighborhoods.
City officials and staff are committed to seeking opportunities to help
improve the quality of life within the City and Wayne County has proven
to be a consistent ally.
