SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
Wednesday, August 25, 2010
5:30 p.m.
The Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Inkster, Wayne County,
Michigan, convened in the Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge, on Wednesday,
August 25, 2010.
CALL MEETING TO ORDER
Mayor Hilliard L. Hampton II called the meeting to order at 5:45 p.m.
ROLL CALL
Honorable Council Present: Michael Canty, Henry Crump, Marcus Hendricks,
Courtney Owens,
Timothy Williams, Mayor Hampton
ABSENT: Patrick Wimberly
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
Titus Ellmore: Addressed concerns regarding a tree that fell in his yard on
June 4, 2010 that caused damage to his property. Mr. Ellmore passed out pictures
and appraisals from other companies.
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Hampton opened the meeting with a brief background as to the reason for
such.
A discussion took place regarding why the Highway Men Club’s sign went up
again. Ann K. Capela, City Manager gave an explanation to why the sign went up
again and will update the Council if it will be possible for the sign to come
down permanently.
A discussion took place regarding the court’s funding and how to handle its
accounts.
Peter Dobrzeniecki, City Treasurer/Controller sited specific checks that were
issued by the court.
10-08-228S MOTION by Councilman Owens, Seconded by Councilman Canty to place
the City Treasurer/Controller and the City Manager on all bank accounts
including the 22nd District Court, utilizing the City of Inkster’s Federal Tax
ID number.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
10-08-229S MOTION by Councilman Crump, Seconded by Councilman Canty to
contact Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, PLC and Allen Brothers Law Firm
regarding seeking counsel to aid in the handling of the 22nd District Court
Funding.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
Ann K. Capela, City Manager addressed the need to hire a DPS Director and
stated that there were a number of qualified applicants available that were
interested in the position.
Gregory Gaskin, Police Chief addressed the need to hire a Deputy Police
Chief. He recommended that the city hire from within and personally had a
recommendation.
There being no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made
by Councilman Crump and seconded by Councilman Canty and carried, the Special
Council Meeting of August 25, 2010 was adjourned at 8:08 p.m.
