Special Council Meeting

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

6:00 p.m.

 

The Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, convened in Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge.

Call Meeting to Order

Mayor Hampton called the meeting to order at 6:11 p.m.

Roll Call

Honorable Council Present: Michael Canty, Henry Crump, Marcus Hendricks, Courtney Owens, Timothy Williams, Patrick Wimberly, Mayor Hilliard Hampton

Discussion

Mayor Hampton opened meting outlining intent of meeting was to address organizational concerns, budget, 1/3 personnel shift, contract negotiations, shortfalls and fiscal issues.

City Manager presented information requested by Mayor Hampton as follows:

  1. Information Technology
  2. Laptops
  3. Energy Grant
  4. Wheatley Park
  5. Wayne County
  6. Boji Group
  7. City’s organization structure
  8. Neighborhood Stabilization Program
  9. Water Rates
  10. New Meters

Prior to continuing with the outline Mayor Hampton opened the floor to the public for comment. Public in attendance did not approach the podium.

Items were not discussed in order; participants, other than Council, are listed below.

1. Employee Contracts

William Lawrence, Human Resource Director

Jeannette DeFlorio, ASFCME representative

Bettye Lee-Riley, AFSCME Executive Board Officer

Roosevelt Johnson, Inkster Housing employee

Discussion of union contracts and separation of Housing AFSCEM employees from city AFSCME employees.

2. Staffing issues and Consolidation of Departments

3. Information Technology

Brent Perry, Blue Clay Consultants

There being no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made by Councilman Owens, Seconded by Councilman Hendricks and carried, the Special Council Meeting of February 23, 2010 was adjourned at 10:47 PM.
