Special Council Meeting

Saturday, February 20, 2010

8:30 a.m.

　

The Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, convened at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 8000 Merriman Road, Romulus, Michigan.

Call Meeting to Order

Mayor Hampton called the meeting to order at 9:04 a.m.

Roll Call

Honorable Council Present: Michael Canty, Henry Crump, Marcus Hendricks, Timothy Williams, Patrick Wimberly, Mayor Hilliard Hampton

Honorable Council Excused: Courtney Owens

Public in attendance: Charles Friday

Facilitator: Dr. Joe Ohren, Krystal Davis (student)

City Manager: Ann K. Capela

Discussion

Dr. Ohren handed Council an outline for meeting and introduced student in attendance.

Council exchanged dialogue based on the outline; discussed:

  1. The goals established at the session of August 28-29, 2009.
  2. Identifying action strategies for Goal Five – Improve and Promote the City of Inkster.

Council recessed at 10:31 a.m. to 10:54 a.m. for break

  1. Setting priorities among tasks in the Action Plan.
    1. Improve public safety.
    2. Market city; attract business.
    3. Change name.

Council recessed at 12:03 p.m. to 1:04 p.m. for lunch.

  1. Engage community in budget process.

Williams excused himself at 1:56 p.m.

  1. Other forms of incarceration.
  2. Regular update reports
  3. Examine legal services.

Mayor called for February 23, 2010 special meeting to discuss contracts, staffing issues and personnel.

There being no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made by Councilman Canty, seconded by Councilman Hendricks and carried, the Special Council Meeting of February 20, 2010 was adjourned at 2:43 PM.
