Special Council Meeting

Monday, December 14, 2009

6:00 p.m.

 

The Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, convened the Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge, on Monday, December 14, 2009.

 

Call Meeting to Order

Mayor Hilliard Hampton called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

 

Roll Call

Honorable Council Present: Michael Canty, Courtney Owens (entered at 6:20p.m.), Timothy Williams, Patrick Wimberly, Marcus Hendricks, Mayor Hilliard Hampton

Public Participation

CCWC Block Club: Spoke in support of Denard Shaw for the District 6 council seat vacancy.

Deborah Owens: Spoke in support of Henry Crump to fill vacancy.

Dorothy Gardner: Stated she’s against a special election & a decision needs to be made before Dec. 30.

Ron Johnson: Spoke in support of DeArtriss Coleman-Richardson to fill vacancy.

Michael Greene: Spoke in support of DeArtriss Coleman-Richardson to fill vacancy.

Henry Crump: Stated his qualifications to fill vacancy.

Ruth E. Williams: Expressed disappointment in DeArtriss Coleman-Richardson.

Denard Shaw: Expressed that he had support of District 6 voters to fill vacancy.

Jean Fuller: Expressed concerns regarding a fair decision being made to fill the vacancy.

New Business

09-12-345S Moved by Canty Seconded by Owens

Appoint Henry Crump to fill vacant council seat in District 6 for the remainder of this term, expiring in 2011.

Motion carried unanimously.

The Annapolis Pointe Project was discussed; however, no action was taken.

Boards and Commissions

09-12-346S Moved by Canty Seconded by Hendricks

Appoint Jerri Porter to the Downtown Development Authority for a 4-year term to expire December 14, 2013.

Motion carried unanimously.

 

There being no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made by Councilman Canty, seconded by Councilman Wimberly and carried, the Special Council Meeting of December 14, 2009 was adjourned at 7:38 PM.
