City of Inkster, Michigan
Regular Council Meeting
Monday, June 1, 2009
The Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of
Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, assembled in the Council Chambers,
26215 Trowbridge, on Monday, June 1, 2009.
Prior to the regular council meeting a motion to go
into closed session was made at 7:25 pm to discuss labor negotiations.
Executive session adjourned at 7:47 pm.
Call Meeting to Order
Pledge of Allegiance
Mayor Hilliard L. Hampton II called the meeting to
order at 7:53 p.m. Mayor, Council and the public in attendance pledged
allegiance, through the Flag, to the United States of America.

To approve the agenda as presented with the addition
of one item.

Public Participation
Commissioner Joan Gephart: Thanked volunteers for
Rouge River walk clean up efforts.
Larry Motley: Concerns regarding Harrison Street, vendors
license and taxes.
Pauline Dobson: Desire to initiate a police appreciation day.
Concern regarding street basketball nets, barking dogs, and
excessive noise.
Dennard Shaw: Suggested enhancing street pedestrian walkway
markings.

Fire Rescue Truck in the amount of $26,777.46/year for 7
years for a total of $160,545.00 plus interest and a one
time fee of $425.00.

Agreement with Wayne County Parks to establish a splash

Approve the annual renewal of
Michigan Municipal League membership in the amount of
$9,624.00 to cover March 1, 2009 to February 28, 2010,
payable in quarterly increments of $2,406.00 each.
Council Concerns:
Williams: Requested information on
basketball rim ordinance, grass cutting, lawn service,
and Harrison Street
Owens: Remarked on tragic accident,
identifying street crossings, safety, sharing streets
with children. Requested Harrison Street information.
Enjoyed the Parade.
Greene: Expressed sympathy for tragic
accident, announced contribution process for family,
gave update for Black Caucus meeting, and gave contact
information for grieving family.
Hendricks: Predicted possibility of
increased sinister activity.
Mayor: Spoke on regional meeting on
Mackinaw Island. Requested support of Council to host
Nigerian delegates June 25, 2009
City Clerk
City Manager
Gave update on regional meeting. Requested firm date
for Council retreat.
There being no further business to come before
Council, on Moved duly made by Canty, seconded by Williams and carried,
the Regular Council Meeting of June 1, 2009 was adjourned at 9:19 PM
