Regular Council Meeting
Monday, May 18, 2009
The Regular Meeting of the Council of the City of
Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, assembled in the Council Chambers,
26215 Trowbridge, on Monday, May 18, 2009.
Prior to the regular council meeting a motion to go
into closed session was made at 7:35 pm to discuss labor negotiations.
Council recessed to open session at 7:47 pm. Councilman Greene excused;
all other members of Council were present.
Call Meeting to Order
Pledge of Allegiance
Mayor Hampton called the meeting to order at 7:48
p.m. City Council and the public in attendance pledged allegiance to the
flag of the United States of America.

City Attorney.

Schedule a Public Hearing on June 15,
2009 for the project plan to be submitted to MDEQ for
the purpose of the State Revolving Fund loan application
for the CSO Phase II compliance plan

the increased scope of work of the Farnum District.

Award contract to Cadillac Asphalt
Company to rehab Arcola Street between Cherry Hill and
Somerset at a cost of $36,923.00 plus 15% contingency
($5,500.00) for a total cost of $42,423.00.

Allow a Block Party on Princess
Street between New York and Yale on May 25, 2009 from
12:00 noon to 9:00 p.m.
Council Concerns:
Wimberly: Requested update on
sidewalk program.
Williams: Expressed concern of
Annapolis Pointe appearance and clean up. Administration
will follow up.
Canty: Announced availability for
citizens to speak to him on Thursdays by calling City
Clerk office and setting up appointments until 7:00 pm.
Other members will also make themselves available.
Hendricks: Expressed concern of
Annapolis Pointe, requested copy of development
agreement, and asked that faηade of homes be priority
for aesthetics. Administration will follow up. Spring
Clean success was announced and thanked all who
participated.
Owens: Requested information on the
procedure used to approve water for the community garden
and has a procedure been developed for future community
gardens. Administration will provide report. Identified
areas in the city in need of attention. Requested
consideration to update current Council travel policy.
Announced intent to attend the MML seminar in Lansing on
June 10th.

Acknowledge Council members attending
the one day seminar of Michigan Municipal League on June
10th in Lansing
Mayor: Offered support for meeting
with citizens. Encouraged participation at Memorial Day
Parade. Acknowledged $150,000.00 approved by Council for
Senior Center. Concurred with Councilman Hendricks
comments of Crosswinds and surprised no one able to
answer questions poised. Requested update on Engineering
Department committee. Mentioned success of Spring Clean
program.

Allow the City Clerk to attend the 10th
Annual Michigan Association of Municipal Clerks
Conference from June 15 through June 19, 2009 in the
amount of $871.00.
City Manager
Brief Council and citizens on Spring Clean, TIFA
flower day, need for camera.
There being no further business to come before
Council, on Moved duly made by Canty, seconded by Owens and carried, the
Regular Council Meeting of May 18, 2009 was adjourned at 10:27 PM
