Special Council Meeting
November 8, 2008

CALL MEETING TO ORDER

The Special Meeting of the Council of the City of Inkster, Wayne County, Michigan, assembled in Council Chambers, 26215 Trowbridge, Inkster, MI 48141 at 9:00 am.

ROLL CALL

Honorable Council Present: Canty, Greene, Hendricks, Owens, Williams, Wimberly, Mayor Hampton

Bill Richards opened the meeting for the benefit of those in attendance. The following candidates were interviewed:

Ann Capela: 9:15 am to 10:35 am

Ellis Mitchell: 10:45 am to 12:10 pm

William Barlow: 12:25 pm to 1:45 pm

Discussion followed regarding the candidates interviewed. A survey was taken on favorable candidates:

Canty: Mitchell, Capela

Wimberly: Mitchell, Barlow

Hendricks: Capela, Charles

Williams: Mitchell

Greene: Capela, Barlow

Owens: Barlow, Mitchell

Mayor: Barlow, Charles

Further discussion revealed Ann Capela as a unanimous first choice.

08-11-296S RESOLVED by Owens, seconded by Canty to offer the City Manager’s position to Ann Capela contingent on a successful comprehensive background investigation, agreement of terms and conditions of employment, an acceptable pre-employment medical/physical examination. Unanimously adopted. MOTION CARRIED.

Moved by Wimberly, seconded by Williams to enter into closed session at 2:32 pm for the purpose of Personnel.

Moved by Owens, seconded by Wimberly to return to open session at 2:47 pm.

08-11-297S RESOLVED by Hendricks, seconded by Wimberly to adjust the City Clerk’s salary to Step II of the Michigan Municipal League study in the amount of to $58,891.00; retroactive to April 1, 2008. Unanimously adopted. MOTION CARRIED

Discussion regarding goals set by Council for the City Clerk. Authorization requested by the City Clerk to maintain the temporary worker, utilized during the election, in the office until December 31, 2008. Council authorized request.

There being no further business to come before Council, on motion duly made by Canty, seconded by Greene and carried, the Special Council Meeting of November 8, 2008 is adjourned at 3:02 p.m.
