Departments, City Boards and Commissions and the State of Michigan.
Serving as the Official Keeper of Records, the Clerk maintains all files
and permanent records of the City such as City Codes, Ordinances,
Resolutions, and City Council meeting minutes. In addition, the Clerk is
responsible for publishing and posting all legal notices.

accurate record of the proceedings of the meetings; publishes legal
notices as required; provides voter registration to residents; serves as
custodian of all contract, deeds, ordinances, resolutions and city
records. The Clerk shall administer oaths as required under the City
Charter or laws of the State of Michigan and shall be custodian of the
City Seal.
The City Clerk's Office regularly becomes a focal point of our system
of government with every election. But, that's only one of the duties of
the Clerk's Office. The City Clerk also oversees and trains election
workers, is responsible for absentee ballots, ensures the integrity of
the voting process and distribution of equipment to the 17 precincts
throughout the City. The City Clerk's office is also responsible for the
maintenance of the Qualified Voter File, which is the official voter
registration through the State of Michigan. Current the City of Inkster
has over 22,000 registered voters. Application for voter registration
may be made at this office by persons who are 18 years of age or more, a
U.S. Citizen, and a Michigan resident. If the applicant is a resident of
Inkster, the application will be processed in this office. If the
applicant is a resident of another Michigan community, the application
will be forwarded to the clerk of that community for processing. There
is a "close of registration" 30 days before any election.
