Senior Services
Inkster Senior Services, Inc. has provided supportive services to the
senior population of Inkster since 1972. Services provided enable
citizens 55 years of age and older to remain independent. Our

Enhance Fitness
The Enhance Fitness Program is a free class geared toward improving the
overall fitness and well-being of primarily older adults. All adults are
welcome-even those with physical disabilities or who travel by
wheelchair. The one-hour classes focus on cardiovascular conditioning,
strength training, flexibility, and balance training. A certified
fitness instructor leads classes three times a week to provide social
stimulation as well as physical benefits to participants.

2nd Class - 11:45am - 12:45am
New participants are asked to attend the 11:45am class.

Transportation

Transportation
is available for medical appointments on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. We transport
within a seven mile radius of Inkster. Shopping transportation is
provided to local grocery stores every Tuesday and to local shopping
centers twice a month on Thursday. Call our office for more
information or to schedule a ride.

Inkster Parks
& Recreation has an exercise program and computer classes that are held
at the Dozier Recreation Complex. We also offer activities such as
ceramic classes, arts & crafts, Scrabble Club as well as the Inkster
Club that meets at our drop-in center on Lehigh. Please call (313)

information. Also of interest is the dancing class that is held at
the Dozier Recreation Complex every Tuesday evening. Please

Senior Services, Inc. has MPAC (Medicare Medicaid
Prescription
Assistance
Counselor) volunteers that are specially trained to help senior
citizens and persons with disabilities with prescription drug
assistance. We have been trained to assist
you with enrollment in Medicare Prescription
Drug Coverage
(Part D) that will become effective January 1, 2006. Please call

service provided by The Senior Alliance, Inc. (Area Agency on Aging 1-C)
MMAP Program.

Services delivers homebound seniors a hot lunch through Wayne County
Nutrition Services. To find out more about home delivered meals
please contact them at 1 (800) 851-1454. Inkster also has three
congregate meal sites where seniors can go to enjoy a hot lunch.

File of Life
is a mini-medical record which is posted on the outside of ones
refrigerator that enables medical personnel to obtain a quick medical
history when the patient is unable to offer one. It contains
potentially life saving information when an emergency
occurs. Emergency personnel are trained to look for this file,
which is posted in a magnetic red plastic pocket on the
outside of the refrigerator. These are available to all seniors
living in Inkster. Please stop by or call our office (313)
561-2382 to pick up yours today.
